🎓 REAL STUDENT MOVE • SEPTEMBER 2026

Student Move from Birmingham to Leeds 🚚🎓

A real student removal from Edgbaston, Birmingham B16 to student accommodation in Leeds LS2 — helping a mother and daughter start the next chapter of university life.

September is one of the busiest times of the year for student removals. Universities are starting a new academic year, students are arriving in new cities and parents are helping their sons and daughters move into halls, flats and university accommodation.

This week we completed another student move from Birmingham to Leeds. The collection was in Edgbaston, Birmingham, and the destination was student accommodation in Leeds.

This was a typical long-distance student move: boxes, suitcases, bags, bedding and personal belongings — with the parent and student travelling together.

Destination

Leeds LS2

🌅 An Early Start in Birmingham

We started the day at approximately 7:45am. The collection was from an apartment in Edgbaston, Birmingham, where the student's belongings were ready to be taken down from the fourth floor.

We used the lift to bring everything downstairs and loaded the belongings carefully into the vehicle before setting off towards Leeds.

📦 What was being moved?

There was no furniture on this particular student move. Instead, the load consisted mainly of personal belongings needed for university:

  • 🧳 Large suitcase
  • 🧳 Cabin-size suitcase
  • 📦 Around 10 boxes
  • 👜 Large IKEA bag of kitchenware
  • 👕 Bags of clothes and personal belongings
  • 🛏️ Bedding and bed linen
  • 📦 Miscellaneous boxes and bags
  • 🎓 Everything needed for the student's new accommodation

🛣️ Birmingham to Leeds – The Journey

Once everything was loaded, we headed north from Birmingham. The journey took approximately two and a half hours, with a short stop along the way for a quick break before continuing.

🚚 Birmingham → A38 → M1 → Sheffield → Rotherham → Barnsley → Wakefield → Leeds 🎓

During September, you can really see how busy the student moving season is. There were cars, vans and families travelling in all directions, with students heading towards university cities across the country.

📍 Arriving in Leeds – Finding the Accommodation

We arrived in Leeds at approximately 11:10am. The final part of the journey was slightly more complicated than expected because the location for collecting the keys was not immediately obvious.

The postcode provided for the accommodation did not appear to correspond correctly with the student accommodation location on Google Maps. Rather than simply relying on the postcode, we used the surrounding roads, buildings and our experience of navigating unfamiliar university accommodation areas to work out the correct location.

After finding the correct area, we managed to park as close as possible and started the final part of the move.

🛒 Trolleys, 300 Metres and the 11th Floor

The accommodation staff were very helpful and assisted with the unloading process. The belongings were placed onto large luggage trolleys and then transported approximately 300 metres towards the accommodation building.

💛 More Than Just Driving a Van

A long-distance student removal is not simply about driving from one postcode to another.

Sometimes there are lifts, stairs, restricted parking, key collection points, accommodation reception desks, unfamiliar buildings or postcodes that do not appear correctly on navigation.

On this move, we had a fourth-floor collection in Birmingham, a long journey to Leeds, a difficult postcode to locate, parking challenges, trolleys, a 300-metre walk and finally an 11th-floor delivery.

Despite the little challenges along the way, everything was completed normally and the student was safely moved into her new university accommodation.
